Telia Purple Lunch

Increase connection and collaboration between employees

Telia Company sought to foster a simple, fun, and relaxed way for its employees to get to know each other. The goal was to enhance collaboration between departments and offices, thereby creating added value for its workforce.

The challenge was to work agile, quickly and innovatively within a tight 10-week project timeline, developing an application closely aligned with user needs and behaviours. Julia, responsible for concept development, user experience, and UI/visual design, leveraged Telia’s brand & design hub for atomic design to create an innovative and visually appealing app that perfectly aligned with Telia’s brand identity.

Purple Lunch emerged as a digital networking service designed to connect employees, encourage collaboration, and facilitate cheerful lunch meetings. This initiative aimed to break down silos and enable colleagues who hadn’t met before to sit down and chat over lunch.

A user-centric, iterative approach was key to rethinking the lunch experience within the short timeframe. By listening to employees and observing them test early prototypes, the team was able to work quickly and goal-oriented alongside Telia.

Telia Pep aka Gigawalk

A fun app to get children to be more active

Julia played a pivotal role as the lead UI designer and visual designer in the creation of the children’s app ‘Telia Pep also known as Gigawalk.’ This innovative app was designed to encourage children to be more physically active by rewarding their movement with mobile data. The development process was highly design-driven, involving early-stage observations and interviews, A/B testing, and extensive idea generation sessions with clients and end users (children 9-12 yo and parents). Julia collaborated closely with clients and end users, including both children and their parents, to ensure the app was engaging, visually appealing, and effective in promoting physical activity.

The app’s development was a team effort, with Julia working alongside developers and an illustrator to bring the concept to life. The project was initiated by Telia in partnership with Generation PEP, an organization founded by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, which focuses on promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles among children. Through this collaboration, the team was able to create a fun and motivating app that not only encourages children to move more but also rewards them in a way that resonates with their digital-savvy lifestyles.
